ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Foundations of Bezmiâlem Foundation University were laid in 1845 by Sultan Mahmud II's wife Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan. It was the most modern, well-equipped institution of the period and provided high quality health and education services. Having continued its service in the field of health since its foundation, Bezmiâlem was transformed into university in 2010 and brought its knowledge to academic study field. Republic of Turkey Founding foundations of the institution serving under the General Directorate of Foundations are Bezm-i Âlem Valide Sultan Foundation, Abdülhamit Sani Foundation and Silahtar Abdullah Ağa foundations. Bezmiâlem Vakıf University, serving with 558 academicians specialized in their fields gives education in Departments of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences and Vocational School of Health Services. In the institution that hosts Turkey's first Phytotherapy Center, which provides research of the use and effects of plants in the treatment of diseases, Turkey's first and most comprehensive OSCE Hall and Skill Laboratory for studying on models prepared for every kind of scenerio is available for students to be able to study on. Bezmiâlem Vakıf University has cooperation with 70 universities from 35 countries, with the most respected organizations in the world, including especially Johns Hopkins, one of the leading universities in the US. According to URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance); Bezmiâlem Vakıf University ranks first among the universities established after 2000 in the 2017-18 ranking, while it ranks 2nd among the universities with less than 6000 students and 4th among all foundation universities.
