ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
A distinctive past of more than 500 years in education and training: Galatasaray University, was first established in 1481 by Sultan Beyazit II as an “Enderun School” (Imperial School) and was called “Galata Sarayı” (‘Galata Palace’). It was established with the international agreement signed on April 14th 1992 between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of France. Galatasaray educational institutions, which are the important public schools that educated high-quality people to the government of Ottoman Empire and Republic of Turkey, continue to provide education according to the needs of contemporary society with its units consisting of primary school, secondary school, high school, vocational high school, five faculties and two institutes. A consortium of nearly thirty French Higher Education Institutions was established between the Galatasaray University and Chairmanship of University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Scientific Cooperation Agreement was signed. These institutions help the formation of programmes, execution of projects and pedagogical cooperation between Galatasaray University and consortium members. Galatasaray University from a strong and well-established tradition of education is the undisputed choice of students in the first percentile in central placement examination with confidence to Galatasaray image, with academic staff who studied in leading universities of Turkey, Europe and the America and specialized in different areas, with exchange program agreements with more than 100 European Universities, especially in France, with mutual high exchange rate in Erasmus programmes, and Graduates with a high level of professional knowledge, speaking at least two foreign languages. In addition to being a Researcher University, Galatasaray University, which has been educating managers for Government Positions for years, has also contributed to meeting the academic staff needs of other universities with its successful graduates.
